David is the Director of the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre at The University of Queensland. He has been with MISHC over ten years. Prior to this he was at SIMTARS for eleven years including three as Manager Mining Research and eighteen months as Manager Occupational Hygiene, Environment and Chemistry. David has provided expert assistance in the areas of health and safety to the mining industry for over twenty years with particular expertise in occupational health and safety performance measurement, occupational health and safety management systems, emergency preparedness, gas analysis, spontaneous combustion, fires and explosions and in the investigation of mining incidents.

Leo is a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Health & Safety at RMIT University where his main postgraduate and undergraduate lecturing activities cover risk management, ergonomics, general OHS hazards and controls, and workplace relations. He has extensive OHS and HR experience in the utility and mining industries, and within a government OHS regulator. He has a particular interest in the strategic involvement of health & safety to improve organisational effectiveness.

Bruce has held positions as Director of the Flexible Learning Centre and Director Distance Education at the University South Australia. He has also held senior appointments within TAFE NSW and been a board member of three multimedia companies. He developed an international reputation by pioneering distance education as a field of study, numerous international conferences and consultancies, his membership of the editorial boards of three international journals and the international advisory board of the Centre for Research in Adult and Distance Learning at the Open University of Hong Kong. He was the Australian member of the UNESCO Committee of Experts on Distance Education in Moscow and represented the Government in Japan and Thailand on online learning issues.

She has been employed in a range of academic positions at both UQ and Queensland University of Technology, and has developed and delivered both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. During this time Margaret has consulted extensively to a range of organisations from government departments to manufacturing and retail companies. Margaret currently holds three ministerial appointments, including expert representation on the Manufacturing Industry Sector Standing Committee

Sue as over 30 years experience as a researcher and practitioner in the field of occupational hygiene. While employed at University of Western Sydney and now as adjunct Associate Professor Sue has led a number of research projects and authored or co-authored over 40 book chapters, papers and conference presentations. Sue is now the principal occupational hygienist at Reed OHE Pty Ltd.

Chris was appointed Managing Director of Programmed in December 2007 and commenced in the position on 21 January 2008. Previously, Mr Sutherland had been the Chief Executive of Integrated Group Limited (which merged with Programmed in June 2007) since February 2006 and prior to this appointment was Executive Director, Asset Services for WorleyParsons. He is an experienced executive who has held senior management positions in various engineering, maintenance and contracting businesses with operations in Australia, Asia, Europe and the USA. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (UWA) and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2001.

In this role, Meagan oversees operational policy and procedure, training and capability development, systems administration and a variety of advice, monitoring and review functions to support WorkSafe’s inspectorate. Meagan has been with WorkSafe for over 15 years in various roles including as a dangerous goods inspector. Meagan is currently the chair of the National reference group developing training for inspectors to support implementation of harmonised WHS legislation. She has worked in manufacturing, food processing, hospitality and education.
